Dirt Bikes Review: the AMA and the WMA

The American Motorcyclists Association – (AMA) is a professional motorcycle racing organization controlled by veteran motorcycle racer Roger Edmondson and a group of racing business professionals in charge of operating the Daytona Motorsports group. They took over the operation of motorsports racing from the AMA. Now the AMA is run by veteran racer David Atlas, NASCAR executive – Tom Bledsoe, and Daytona Beach attorney – Chris Harris. Their first priority is the safety of all dirt bike racers and also the fans. Competition being their second concern, the AMA - by implementing many of the rule changes for 2010 that are designed to improve the quality of racing for competitors as well as the fans – have created a racing organization that will continue to move this form of racing to the new level now and into the future. This form of racing is the most intense, exciting and unpredictable form of motorsports racing in the world. AMA racing event categories consists of the following: Road Racing, Flat Track, Motocross, Supermoto, ATV, and the Hill Climb event. Daytona Beach, Florida and Daytona National Speedway has been host to many landmark racing events in motorcycle racing. Starting with the first race on the sands of Daytona Beach in the 1930’s to the classic Daytona 200 road races at the speedway, have been historically linked for many years. The AMA pro racing website has all the information about scheduled events, competitors, rankings, race results, photos and video, any and all event information available for anyone interested in any thing associated with dirt bikes. With just the click of a mouse you can track your favorite dirt bike event and your favorite ride -view his rankings and watch videos of past events. All the latest updated news and the archives are available at the AMA pro racing site. Associated with the AMA is the WMA – Women’s Motocross Association, which is naturally the professional racing association for women. The WMA has an American Motorcyclist Association – (AMA) charter and the AMA sanctions all WMA events. The WMA – founded in 2004 – is committed to the promotion of women’s racing by providing the highest quality women’s motocross events and creating opportunities for women throughout the sport. The founder and president of the WMA is Miki Keller who is an active motocross rider. From January 2000 to January 2004 she was the president for the U.S. Women’s motorcycle League. The Women’s Motocross Association owns and operates the women’s professional motocross series, known as the AMA/WMA Women’s National Motocross Championship. This is the world’s largest women’s motocross event and also promotes women’s amateur-class racing through the WMA membership organization at its events. These two organizations, the AMA and the WMA attract scores of new young boys and girls as fans and potential competitors to its many venues across the United States. With their different variety of events and the young age of the riders, the WMA and the AMA delivers a message of fun, companionship, and sanctioned competition, not to mention the opportunity to earn a nice living, to all young dirt bike riders in the United States and the world.

Women Dirt Bike Riders

Dirt Bikes Review: Young women acquire their love for dirt bike riding at a very young age. They are either taught to ride by their fathers, brothers or some other family member. Sometimes they may even be exposed to the sport by a family friend or some other friend. What ever the case, girls thrive on competition just as boys do. Venture on over to You Tube and you’ll find many videos of young girls riding off road bikes. One that I particularly like is the video of Emma, a five year old who explains the different parts and controls on her bike – with a little coaching from dad, she then proceeds to demonstrate her riding technique. What to be learned here is that girls love dirt bikes and motorcycles. To further emphasize the point I’m trying to make, the Women’s WMA/AMA, Motocross Association supports the women’s pro national championship sports events and the American Motocross association also host motocross competition for women. These events are held all across the United States at different venues. One of these fantastic young women is Sherri Cruse. She is twenty years old, 5’1” just 115 lbs, and has been a participant since 1998 and a competitor since 2005. Her games history reads like a who’s, who in the world of motocross racing. Read her complete history, bio, see photos and more, just Google her. There are many women young and old who do not race but they enjoy the freedom of riding a motorcycle – be it a street cruiser or a dirt bike. In fact, there is another You Tube video that features a forty-six year old women just learning to ride a dirt bike; and she plans on buying her own. So here is the message to all young girls, teenage girls and mature women, no matter what your age, if you feel that you would like to ride a dirt bike or a motorcycle, get the proper training either from someone you know or an approved training school. Training schools are easy to find, just surf the net and you’ll be surprised at how easy they can be found.
